Scheduling / Attend A Session / Calendar

Right now, the Buddhist Friendship Project is in experimental (new, alpha) mode from Jan-Feb2020.

How to participate below.

OPTION 1, ANYTIME:
The Project is primarily for live interaction, but we have a few anytime options. Go to the discord server https://discord.gg/Ph67ZK7. (browser recommended, mobile works but requires an app install, yuck). Once there, check out the #chainmail-listening, #chainmail-goodwill, and #chainmail-somatic for games that can be played anytime.

OPTION 2, LIVE SESSIONS:
In live sessions, you will play buddhist friendship games, live, with other people at the times below.

HINT: For converting from Pacific Time Zone, if you click on an event and then "Copy to My Calendar", it *should* automatically convert the time zone.

Tip: If you are new and want to just do the normal route: try a Saturday 30-minute games session on ZOOM.

Howard is on Zoom (video conference or phone, see details)  or Discord (audio, text-chat) on the days in the calendar below. Time Zone is Pacific Time (Los Angeles / San Francisco).

No registration needed. Just show up ready to give and receive goodwill. Everything will be explained, and you can also just watch/listen.

JAN/FEB: It's likely if you show up it will just be you and Howard and maybe 1 or 2 other people.

REMINDER: If you are having an immediate crisis (for example, a panic attack, immense grief, or a major depressive episode), consider a 5-40 minute free and confidential chat with Crisis Text Line.

The technology platform with be either DISCORD or ZOOM in the calendar. Details on the events and platforms below.

Discord Connection Instructions

Discord is a chat app (used primarily by gamers, but re-purposed here for BuddhistFriendship.)
On mobile or web, go to:https://discord.gg/Ph67ZK7

On WEB / Latptop / Desktop: You don't need to even give your email to use it. Just pick a random username.
On Mobile: It'll ask you to install an app once. It needs an app because of chat notification.

Just say "hello" in the main channel when you login. Either "Hocho" or "BuddhistFriend" or someone else should greet you.

3. Friday Happy Hour on DISCORD (1 hour exactly)

Friday Happy Hour is a place to relax an chill out. It's much less structured and you can ask more questions and get into topics. Note: the goals are the same... to give and receive goodwill. So, moderators and facilitators may nudge people away from divisive topics.

It will mainly be via voice/audio. (unfortunately, phone calls wont work).

One of the main motivations is to give people something social to do that is:
  1. Not a bar
  2. They can do in their pajamas / from home.
  3. They can meet new people and be social.
  4. Or, they can just be a wallflower and listen to conversations.

VOICE Discord Connection Instructions
